STYLE GURU STYLE: Shifting Around

With classes in full swing and fall fast approaching, it seems the weather can’t keep up. It’s still stuck in sweltering summer mode! It’s hard to transition into fall outfits with the heat.

That’s why I have been looking to other seasons for outfit inspiration. I really liked A.P.C.’s spring 2014 ready-to-wear collection. There were several patterned shift dresses, which really caught my eye. I absolutely love shift dresses. They’re so in right now! They can look really sophisticated. Plus, they are so easy to throw on when you’re in a rush to get to class! You can wear them with any type of shoe, and they can easily be dressed up or down for any occasion.

I took inspiration from A.P.C.’s spring 2014 ready-to-wear collection. I love the simplicity of A.P.C.’s pieces in general, and their spring 2014 ready-to-wear was no different. I loved nearly every look and I feel the line had some fantastic pieces. For my look, I took inspiration from their patterned shift dresses. My dress is simpler than the ones in the line, however. I went with a black dress to signify a transition in seasons. To me, lighter colors and patterns made it seem like I was gearing up for summer rather than heading into fall. Since I had class, I wore my favorite shoes of the moment: my Birkenstocks. I’m so happy they are in right now. They are the most comfortable shoes I own. I jazzed up the look by adding a necklace from Forever 21 and kept the glaring sun out of my eyes with some sunglasses from Urban Outfitters.

Get My Look: 1. A black shift dress. 2. Birkenstocks. 3. A simple necklace. 4. Round sunglasses.
