STYLE GURU STYLE: Shakespearean Romance

Valentino’s most recent spring runway collection was the ultimate romantic getaway. Filled with their signature aesthetic and inspired by Russian paintings, Valentino provided various looks that were like a breath of fresh air. Long, flowy dresses with long sleeves gave for a truly ethereal and delicate aura. The structure of each dress was also very flattering and its movement could be easily seen as the models walked down the runway. There was a variety of sophisticated prints reminiscent of nature as well as looks with no patterns but with more structure and detail in fabric use. Overall, the collection reminded me of what a princess would wear in a Shakespearean sonnet while she awaited her true love.

I took some inspiration and went into my closet in search of a dress that would do the designer’s aesthetic justice. Perfectly enough, I found this equally flowy and romantic dress complete with the similar airy long sleeves many of the looks had. My dress also had details at the collar with sewn in gem-like pieces to add more weight. To make it more of my style, I added a black hat and a choker which gave the outfit an edgier feel. I also sported a comfortable pair of sandals to go along with the spring season’s warmer weather.

Valentino’s spring collection provided tons of looks that could be worn for many different occasions. Whether you are going out on a date or simply wanting to dress up for the weekday, this show does not disappoint and can be a great source for inspiration!

Get the Look: 1. A flowy dress. 2. A large black hat. 3. A ’90s choker.
