STYLE GURU STYLE: Shades Of Siyah! (That's Black In Turkish)

Meltem Özbek showcased her fall 2015 collection opulently during Istanbul Fashion Week. From her rocker-chic leather jackets, turtle necks, dresses to boots, all items truly highlighted Turkey’s fashion style and the sophisticated glamour that Istanbul’s remarkable fashion culture has to offer. The leather numbers took the center stage in black, gray, white and olive green; they were simple, yet chic, creating the luxe style that everyone strives for each season.

This week, I was inspired by Özbek’s features on different shades of black and various types of textures in each outfits. Starting from the quintessential moto jacket, I paired mine with a plain gray T-shirt to keep the focus on the jacket (a piece like that deserves attention!). The endlessly versatile leather jacket fits right in from casual brunch to date night; this must-have investment item can rev up your style game in no time. I wore it with the sleeves folded up for the opportunity to show off my watch, and also creating that laid back vibe. Since the leather jacket has some sort of shine to it, I mixed it with a pair of matte black pants with details on the knees. As of right now, it’s not quite practical to don thick leather pants yet, considering I have to climb up thousands of stairs to get to my lectures (recall Ross’ tragic moment with his leather pants…).

For footwear and accessories, I opted for various versions of this enticing material. While my riding boots feature a mix of quilted flannel and smooth leather, coming on with that timeless-chic vibe, the soft leather and studded bottom on my handbag help create the perfect mix of texture I was hoping for.

Get My Look: 1. Mackage moto jacket. 2. Alexander Wang Rockie bag. 3. Tory Burch riding boots.
