STYLE GURU STYLE: Seeing in Black and White

As of lately, I have been slightly obsessed with the sleek simplicity of wearing neutrals, particularly black and white. Black and white are the colors that you can keep in your wardrobe forever and they will never be neglected. While certain color trends come and go, black and white remain and are always able to be translated into current trends.

The Hermès spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection embodies the timeless style of black and white. Staying true to the brand’s signature French style, Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski exhibited the beauty of natural hair, smooth tailored pieces and a simplistic color palette. She breathes new life into the looks by incorporating linear, grid-like patterns, leather and a dose of sportiness, all the while maintaining the timeless but trendy look of tailored black and white.

Drawing inspiration from this collection, I paired a classic black blouse with tailored trousers. The white pants with the vertical black stripes is my personal way of transcending the minimalistic linear patterns of the Hermès collection into my outfit. I added a bit of leather with my go-to black tote and black peep-toe booties. I accessorized with a dainty silver necklace and bracelets and blue tinted sunglasses. Incorporating one of my favorite trends right now, I put a black pom keychain on my tote and off I went!

Wearing black and white doesn’t have to be dull. In fact, it can sometimes make an even bigger statement than wearing bold, in-your-face hues. The possibilities are truly endless with black and white pieces and the more possibilities you have, the more amazing outfit combinations you can create. Learn the ways of black and white and you will always leave home looking like a stylish, put-together, French Hermès girl.
