STYLE GURU STYLE: Seaside Cool

My trip to Turkey has come to a close. I am so incredibly lucky to have family in this part of the world. My time has been filled with black tea, sea salt and sun. Sitting on the beach one day of my trip, I read about Julie de Libran’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection for Sonia Rykiel. Always being inspired by cool, French-girl fashion, I wanted to end my trip wearing something classic like that. While it isn’t cold enough in the Northern Hemisphere yet, I took a few of the same elements from this collection to make my own.

I am wearing a vintage black-and-white, striped boat neck top tucked into a pair of black shorts. Both are made of a thicker material, making them look and feel a little more luxe. I am also wearing a gray felt hat with a brown suede tie around the brim, as well as a pair of gold aviator sunglasses. Additionally, I am wearing my brown leather Madewell, heeled sandals. Hands down, these are my favorite shoes. They go with just about everything, casual or formal. To keep with the look, I kept my makeup simple only using some BB cream, lip gloss and liquid eyeliner.

This look has a little bit of a seaside feel. I supposed I connected the beaches and boats I have been on the past few weeks to this sailor, French-girl thing. To take this look into the fall, try wearing a black-and-white striped top with a skirt and black tights (or over-the-knee high socks if you’re daring) and sleek booties. Not comfortable with that? Go for a pair of black, high-waisted flared jeans. Extra points for ones with buttons on the front. All in all, don’t try too hard, and keep it simple.

Get My Look: 1. A striped, boat neck top. 2. Black shorts or skirt. 3. Simple makeup.
