STYLE GURU STYLE: Say Yes to the Crop

Every Fashionista knows that cropped tops were last season, but cropped tops and cropped pants together are totally 2016. A high-waisted pant with a crop top is an easy and fashionable outfit, but this year is all about the ankle pant too. Menswear collections thus far have been styling the cropped top, but only few have shown the amazing fit of an ankle pant.

My favorite collection thus far has to be Saint Laurent’s spring 2016 because they took a more casual approach than years past. Saint Laurent commonly has the rocker-chic vibes that remind me Jimi Hendrix and The Rolling Stones. These two just so happen to be two of my biggest musical and fashion inspirations. The relevancy of leather jackets and a cropped ankle jean is not only totally Mick Jagger, but it’s what inspired me to recreate it. It’s genius is more in the stylizing of an ensemble compared to individual pieces. Saint Laurent combined patterns and textures that typically aren’t seen together to give the effect of something that was popular throughout the heist of classic rock.

Although tulle and fur cannot be worn on a daily basis, Saint Laurent’s color and pattern choices can. The colors in my vintage trouser are similar to the reds and blacks throughout the collection which made it perfect for me to model it after. My shoes might not be leather sneakers, but the black loafer is again in sync with the color scheme of the collection. It might also be too hot to rock a leather jacket in this heat, but a  Free People leather bag with an accent zipper like mine is a perfect way to compensate.

Get My Look: 1. Cropped trousers. 2. Black leather bag. 3. Black loafers.
