STYLE GURU STYLE: Say Hello To Yellow

The Chloé spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection shows why French women are known as fashion icons around the world. Each outfit in the show looked effortlessly chic and gave off a bohemian, feminine vibe while still looking sophisticated and modern. I fell in love with the lacy babydoll dresses paired with tall gladiator sandals and the oversized blouses with shorts. While the white lace dresses caught my eye originally, I surprisingly was drawn to the pops of color mixed in with the neutrals, especially a bright, yellow maxi dress.

Yellow isn’t normally a color I find in my wardrobe, but its popularity in spring ’15 runway shows and the beautiful Chloé dress convinced me to give it a try. I chose a shade slightly paler than in the show that I felt worked better with my skin tone. Whether you choose mustard, canary or a pastel yellow, there’s a shade that can work for anyone. The babydoll silhouette on this dress and the ones in the show are perfect for keeping cool in the increasing spring temperatures.

To keep the colorful and feminine dress from looking too childish, I paired it with gladiator-style sandals like in the Chloé show. I’m dying to get a pair of lace-up gladiators for this spring, but these shorter, brown sandals are great everyday shoes for class because they can be worn with anything from denim shorts and a tank top to a flowy maxi dress. I added my favorite pair of sun and moon dangle earrings, which add to the bohemian vibe of the look and bring in some of the pale blue seen in the show. I also added tinted aviator sunglasses that make the look more modern and fun.

Get My Look: 1. A casual yellow sundress. 2. A pair of boho dangle earrings. 3. Brown gladiator-style sandals.
