STYLE GURU STYLE: Saved By the Bell Sleeves

While browsing Vogue’s website for fall inspiration, I came across Ronald van der Kemp’s fall 2016 couture line. This collection blew my mind by perfectly capturing an ’80s vibe. From gingham skirts, groovy colors, to my personal favorite, bell sleeves. I was fascinated by the vibrant red trench coat styled dress. It had the shape of something straight out of the ’80s. The long sleeves draped into beautiful bell sleeves at the cuff. I wanted to take my own spin on this collection and of course I had to do it on a college gal’s budget. So my gut instinct was Forever 21.
Forever 21 is the perfect place for inexpensive fast fashion. If you had something in mind like a basic T-shirt, this store would definitely be the place to go. I recently picked up this mustard yellow blouse with bell sleeves. It has a dainty tie at the neck, and when I wear this shirt, it feels like I’m in another decade. My denim button-up skirt happens to be from Forever 21 as well. This skirt is super versatile and can be worn all year round!

I felt like this outfit needed another pop of color, and since it is starting to get kind of chilly out, I decided to pair the outfit with my thigh-high, maroon speckled socks. I am in love with mustard and maroon together. No, it doesn’t look like ketchup in mustard guys… it’s cool and unique. And for the last piece, I sported my clunky H&M booties. These are SO comfortable and you should go out and get them now before they sell out! Like seriously, go right now before they are gone!
