STYLE GURU STYLE: Sail Away

Americans are obsessed with the number 21. Okay, not all Americans, but it is undeniable that 21 plays a major role in American pop culture. From the beloved brand Forever 21 to Adele’s second album, 21, the number is everywhere. Maybe it’s because 21 is the age when you are considered an adult in the United States, but it seems we are not the only country that has a special place in its heart for the number.

No. 21, pronounced numero ventuno, is an Italian brand under the direction of Alessandro Dell’Acqua. The brand entered the market between 2010 and 2011, and strives to mix masculine and feminine elements in order to create versatile pieces. While exploring Dell’Acqua’s 2016 resort collection, I fell in love with his simplistic and sophisticated style.

Sticking true to his last name, which means “of water,” Dell’Acqua’s resort collection included a few nautical pieces. These pieces inspired my look, which revolved around a navy and white anchor sweater. Although most people consider winter “sweater weather,” sweaters are perfect for summer evenings by the water. I paired my sweater with a pair of white denim shorts. As you can tell from the stretched out lace, these shorts have been well loved. The lace overlay and tiny jewels take any outfit to the next level. To finish off my nautical look, I paired my outfit with Sperry Top-Siders. I really wanted to embody the simple elegance of No. 21; it’s the perfect look for the few summer days we have left.

Get My Look: 1. A nautical sweater. 2. White shorts. 3. Boating shoes.
