STYLE GURU STYLE: S Is For Stripes

The Preen Line spring 2015 collection showcased an intense mix of patterns and bright colors perfect for spring. The geometric, floral, silk, midi skirts and dresses were effortlessly girly and casual, ideal for a spring or summer music festival. Unfortunately, we have a couple months to wait for warm weather to emerge. However, Fashionistas can slowly start incorporating these trends into their closets for the coming months.

Strange prints weren’t the only thing standing out in this collection. There were intense hues that popped out in some of the outfits, like a neon belt across a soft white crocheted dress or bright red stripes horizontally placed against a cream knit sweater. Stripes were very present in this collection. For example, there were a couple of dresses with blue and red horizontal stripes and cute stripe socks. This collection showed that these next couple of months will be about working bright colors and mixing prints to create a fun and easy-to-wear outfit.

The color and effortless use in this collection influenced my outfit for the day. I wore a cream, knit sweater with blue and red vertical stripes along the body and arms. At the end of the sweater, there are red and blue horizontal lines that create fun multidirectional lines. I luckily found this sweater at my local thrift shop. This sweater was best matched with a pair of light wash high-rise jeans  and white canvas shoes for a more relaxed look. The boxy, black handle purse added a vintage and casual vibe to the outfit. Overall, this outfit is colorful yet casual and easy. What is great about this outfit is how it can be altered for colder weather. I would be able to layer a bright blue or red coat to add more color and texture to the outfit for a chillier day in the future.

Get My Look: 1. High-rise jeans. 2. Striped top. 3. Canvas shoes.
