STYLE GURU STYLE: Risky Business

Warning: Outfit requires major confidence! I know what you’re thinking, wearing a sheer shirt in the day? Far-fetched, I know. However, I felt like trying to be new and bold, especially since it was my birthday weekend and I was spending a day in Chelsea with my friends in the city. I didn’t want to wear anything basic, but I also wasn’t trying to do something that didn’t reflect my style. I feel like everyone’s style should always be evolving and therefore it’s always important to go outside the box and do something different.

I was inspired by one of my favorite icons, Rihanna, who always seems to kill any sheer outfit she wears and with the baddest confidence ever seen. She is the literal impression of “Bad and Boujee,” let me tell you. Rihanna’s effortless style sends chills down my style spin every time, simply because of her confidence.

This look starts with a black, long sleeve top, inspired Rihanna. Since I would definitely never go braless with a sheer top, I wore a black lace bralette underneath. I also feel the most comfortable when I’m wearing all-black, so I kept it simple with black jeans and my favorite black knee-high boots. Now to state it for the record, I would not freely just walk the streets of New York City with practically no shirt on, even though it is legal. I wore my favorite distressed, denim jacket with patches.

Overall, I’d say I maintained my confidence throughout the day, even when I saw people staring. However, to me, it is not about what other people think, when it’s not their body nor their clothes.
