STYLE GURU STYLE: Revitalize the Skinny Scarf

New York Fashion Week has had me glued to my computer and watching all of the shows live is a priority. Although most of the shows were stunning, Proenza Schouler’s spring 2016 collection had me salivating at the sight of its beautiful, deconstructed looks. The looks showed a lot of Spanish inspiration from its red, white and black color palette. The dresses in the collection may have been some of the best at fashion week with their beading, netting, feathers and pom-poms. The Snapchats and Instagrams of the most renowned fashion elitists (e.g. Eva Chen) even featured the movement of these beautiful dresses.

An especially noted feature of the looks was the inclusion of  black skinny scarves. Whether they were holding the garment together or hanging around the models necks, the scarves were a force to be reckoned with.

The Proenza Schouler collection inspired me to add a skinny scarf around my neck. I decided to put my own twist on the scarf though and loosely tied it into a bow and let it hang within the frame of my blouse’s neckline. I wanted the scarf to really stand out as the featured element of my outfit. I tucked the white blouse into my jeans and rolled them up to a crop pant level for a polished look. I then paired my outfit with my classic Louis Vuitton bag and Steve Madden leopard loafers. The use of a leopard shoe as a neutral really finishes the look.

Get My Look: 1. Skinny scarf. 2. White blouse. 3. Cheetah flats.
