STYLE GURU STYLE: Retro Flirt

What’s tan, shiny and printed all over? Erin Fetherston’s fall ready-to-wear collection, of course! While I can’t quite compare to the statuesque and bronzed models strutting down the catwalk (the sun doesn’t like me quite as much), I can imitate the gorgeously flared silhouette and retro styles that form this collection.

For this outfit, I chose a flowing skirt with a tiny all over print. I absolutely love the shape and fit; it feels like wearing air, which is absolutely perfect for Rhode Island’s high temperatures and humidity. I followed Fetherston’s styling with a white strapless bustier top. Rather than going for shine as in the collection, I opted for an eyelet lace that nicely complemented the pattern of the skirt. If you’re like me and have the horrible inability to tan (remember your sunscreen!), white works well to bring out your glow!

As far as accessories are concerned, I chose to match with some strappy metallic sandals and my favorite black crossbody bag. In order to keep with the retro feel that I was trying to mimic, I added a pair of cat eye sunglasses. I kept the jewelry simple with an easy cuff and stud earrings (I may or may not have been feeling lazy today). Don’t tell anyone, Fashionistas!

I love the easy and uncomplicated vibe of this collection. From the loose and lovely flared skirts and flowing cropped tops to the chic and simple styling of hair and accessories, each look felt warm and sunny. The focus was always on the impeccable styling of the clothing.

This look is a perfect pairing for any summer adventure! I felt totally comfortable and stylish despite the crazy heat. It’s a great look for the days when I want to feel especially put together but ready for anything. With this look, my darlings, you’ll certainly be prepared for whatever summer throws yours way.
