STYLE GURU STYLE: Resort Ready

Even though it’s summer vacation, not all of us are in vacation mode. For my fellow Fashionistas/os busy with summer jobs, you know you can’t help but daydream of having a little getaway. For me, I’m dreaming of a place with warm beaches and a lively night scene to scope out. In reality, anything mildly warmer than the Bay Area will do. Fortunately, I can pretend I’m chilling resort side by adding leafy printed clothing to my outfits like Elizabeth and James’ spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection.

Throughout the collection, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen pay homage to the cool California gal. The combination of fringe, windbreakers and breezy bottoms particularly pinpoint coastal styles. Rounding off the collection is an exquisite palm tree pattern featured on an assortment of blouses, pants and pencil skirts. When it comes to sourcing inspiration, the Olsen sisters have made it clear—look to the best coast, the West Coast.

For my own outfit, I mimicked the palm pattern with a sleeveless leaf patterned blouse. Additionally, to resemble a sarong, I paired my blouse with a draped jersey skirt. To tone down the appearance of this resort look, I added my River Island fedora and Zara oxfords to adjust to city life. I’m really attached to these chunky silver earrings at the moment, so I paired them accordingly with a simple silver bar necklace. While I may not be vacationing any time soon, this look reminds me I can still have a staycation (through the aid of my wardrobe).

Get My Look: 1. Palm printed blouse. 2. Draped skirt. 3. Black oxfords.
