STYLE GURU STYLE: Red, White and Sequins

If you’ve had the honor of being privy to Yves Saint Laurent’s spring 2016 menswear collection, then you are familiar with the plethora of bomber jackets and sequins that appeared on the runway. I have always been in love with sequins but always designated them for lavish festivities that pretty much only sums up New Years Eve, and who doesn’t have an affinity for bomber jackets? So, as I was out shopping the other day, I stumbled upon this vintage star studded sequined bomber jacket and fell absolutely head over heels in love.

As most of you know, Fourth of July weekend just passed and I knew this jacket would be perfect to wear for an occasion which included all things fireworks, hamburgers and bright colors! Boy, was I right!

To transform this runway trend onto the streets, I decided to keep it casual, as I usually do and play down this bright bomber jacket with a pair of distressed denim shorts. Fourth of July calls for comfort but you can never forget some sort of American flag embellishment fastened somewhere on your body. My staple was found on the back of this awesome vintage jacket. To play off the shorts I decided to throw another vintage piece into the mix, my uber cool fanny pack that you just cannot argue with. The gold buttons give this fanny pack an aura of chic that you would be surprised to find in a statement piece such as this! I wanted to keep this outfit simple but also stylish. To keep it casual, I dressed down the sequins with a pair of beat up Converse which as I’ve said before, you can’t ever go wrong with. In conclusion, these funky round, embellished sunglasses added a flare that screamed “let’s party!”

Get My Look: 1. A pair of distressed denim shorts, but not the obvious kind that look like you tried too hard distressing them. 2. A fantastic sequined bomber jacket. 3. A chic fanny pack. 4. Beat up Converse sneakers. 5. Round sunnies.
