STYLE GURU STYLE: Red, White and Black

It seems that spring has sprung and that can only mean one thing—it’s time to put away the boots and bring out the flats. My outfit inspiration came from alice + olivia’s spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection. What inspired me to put together this outfit was the color scheme. One of the models was wearing an outfit that consisted of red and cream pieces, paired with lace-up gladiator sandals, which immediately caught my eye. Overall, the collection consisted mostly of red, black, cream and nude colors, which I tried to keep in mind when creating my own casual-chic look, inspired by the runway.

Flats are my ultimate favorite type of shoe, as you can dress them up or wear them casually. I had recently purchased these red flats and was dying to find a way to style them. Another one of my latest obsessions are ripped jeans—I would wear them every day if I could. Jeans are also another versatile closet staple that can be dressed up or down, depending on the look you are going for. I wanted to give my outfit a bit of an edgy look, while still keeping it casual. This outfit perfectly represents my style, as all of these pieces are go-to items in my wardrobe. I added this fun, patterned clutch in order to complement the color scheme that was prominent in the collection and in my runway-inspired look.

To complete my look, I added a statement necklace in order to add an extra pop of red and give my outfit a little extra oomph. My goal was to add several pops of the bright red color that was featured on the runway without overdoing it; the black blazer and the blue ripped jeans balanced out the color scheme I was going for.

Get My Look: 1. A pair of red lace-up flats. 2. Ripped jeans. 3. A boyfriend blazer. 4. A statement necklace. 5. A patterned clutch.
