STYLE GURU STYLE: RAD in Plaid

Time to bring back the ’70s! Plaid may have been big back in the day, but recently it has made a huge comeback and we are all loving it. From seeing plaid pants on the runway to seeing plaid flannels on the subway, it is a craze that will never go out of style.

The runway show that inspired my look was the Stella Jean fall 2015 ready-to-wear line. Stella Jean is an emerging Haitian-Italian fashion designer, whose main purpose is to merge together different cultures and traditions in a sophisticated and courageous way. What caught my attention of this designer and this specific line were her colors, patterns and prints she put together in order to be so distinctive. Stella Jean stepped out of the box by pairing her plaid pieces with bright colors and bold designs.

In order to keep the main focus of my look on the plaid Brandy Melville skort, I paired it with a plain white Zara tank top and the classic white Nike Air Force 1 sneakers. To make this daytime look a little more edgy, I added a Forever 21 coin necklace; this helped make the look go from casual to trendy by simply adding a statement piece.

Wether it is a scarf or a shirt, you can never go wrong with a plaid piece in your closet. Flannels may be an easy go-to when trying to add some plaid into your look, but if you want to stand out, try something new and bold such as an eye-catching jumper.

Get My Look: 1. Some plaid shorts. 2. Simple tank top. 3. Sneakers.
