STYLE GURU STYLE: Quintessentially Fall

It’s everybody’s favorite time of year again. The time when the crisp fall air brushes your cheeks and you find yourself trading in your iced coffee and sundresses for hot lattes and chunky sweaters. With fall comes an air of opportunity and new beginnings, transcending through your life, your studies and of course, your wardrobe. While it’s always somewhat bittersweet putting away your summer favorites for the next year, it’s the perfect opportunity to change things up and breathe new life into what you wear.

What I love about fall fashion is that there are so many possibilities. Since it’s not too hot to wear pants or a sweater, but not so cold that you’re forced to bundle up, the weather enables you to wear lighter pieces and layer them up with anything and everything your heart desires. Here I wore boyfriend jeans with a light turtleneck sweater which kept me super comfortable for the sunny but slightly chilly morning. Another great thing about fall is that certain summer pieces can transcend through this season as well. Here I layered a vintage silk scarf, one of my favorite summer accessories that I wore constantly, over my sweater. I also traded in those strappy sandals for my favorite booties, which I had been dying to wear again. In this outfit I feel ready to walk down the street and watch the leaves fall from the trees, with a nice warm latte in one hand and a Harry Potter book in the other.

Fall is a time to thrive, not just survive. It may be easy to get into a slump of only wanting to wear hoodies and leggings this time of year, but we must remind ourselves that this is a time of expression, experimentation and a whole lot of fun in fashion. So get up, put on your sweater and booties, and go take on the world.
