STYLE GURU STYLE: Punk Rock Chic

January 14th, 2015 at 2:00am

Spring is approaching abruptly, so that means new trends and new must-haves in the fashion world. Alexandre Vauthier’s spring ready-to-wear collection is no exception to this with its edgy, punk rock pieces that add flare to your everyday life. Vauthier incorporates rich colors with intricate geometric shapes to create true pieces of art on the runway. This collection’s pieces are striking, but still wearable on a daily basis.

As a Style Guru, I think that it’s amazing as to how I can combine high fashion styles into my wardrobe. I took a style like Vauthier’s and made it my own by just making a few minor tweaks to my outfit. Focusing on what the runway style really is can help you put together the look from head to toe. For example, I decided to take the time to complete the punk rock look with a hairstyle that fit the bill. For me, understanding what exactly the trend is helps me to figure out how I can best show it through my clothing.

For this look, I wore only dark colors to really bring forth the punk rock chic that I was going for. I paired a plain tube top with distressed high-waisted shorts and skull studded booties to portray this spring 2015 runway trend. The fantastic part about this trend is that it can be mixed and matched, as well as worn throughout any season. Spring brings the usual floral prints paired with light colors, but bringing in the season with deep colors and unique accents is definitely making a statement. Be bold this season ladies!

Get My Look: 1. Basic tank. 2. Distressed shorts. 3. Studded boots.
