STYLE GURU STYLE: Pretty in Pink (and Red)

It’s mid-winter and we’re almost done braving the storm. Low temperatures and frigid air have taken their toll, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and so can designers. Bright hues have officially come out of exile and found their way back onto the runway for this upcoming spring/summer. One of my absolute favorites is the Carolina Herrera spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection. It’s filled with ethereal fabrics, crisp whites and playful pinks and reds. It’s the collection of any true girly-girl’s dreams. It’s flirty. It’s feminine. Most importantly, it’s downright beautiful.

I loved this collection from the moment I saw it and decided to recreate it. First and foremost, I’m going to tell you all a secret. I have an obsession with button-downs. I have so many in my closet because they’re so easy to style, dressed up or down. I just added this chambray one to my collection and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It’s got a looser fit, which I tend to go for in most of my tops. It’s also so comfortable. I can already tell that it will be getting a lot of use these next couple of months. I paired it with this beautiful laser cutout swing skirt, partly because of the color and partly because of the movement. This skirt flows beautifully with every movement you make while wearing it. I finished off the outfit with booties and silver-based jewels. The combination of pink and red is something I’ve never done before. But I’m so glad I gave it a try because it resulted in something so incredibly beautiful.
