STYLE GURU STYLE: Preppy Perfection

The spring 2012 ready-to-wear runway show featuring Bill Blass screamed blue blood draped in preppy. Blass’ show is all about stripes, navy and white with a splash of yellow and red making his show appear nautical themed. Though this show was a few years ago, I believe preppy will never go out of style. The term “preppy” derives from the private university or prep school that some upper class American’s in the Northeast attend. Prep schools will always be around, and the attire will always remain classic and high class.

My personal style rides the line between preppy and girly and this look popped out at me when I was feeling for a preppy vibe to mimic. Once again I found myself getting lost on Style.com when I came across Bill Blass’s spring 2012 line. I decided that this look would be easy for me to recreate when looking at my closet.

To recreate this look I felt the red pants were essential, so I found my red corduroy pants from Urban Outfitters and paired it with a white T-shirt that was a high-low style. I wore my brand new Jaden Navy Cuffed Sleeve Blazer from Byer California and my Classic Glasgow watch from Daniel Wellington. I wanted a fun pop, so I added my favorite cheetah flats with gold tips from TOBI.

This spring 2012 show inspired me to keep classy. The theme of the show has me excited for this summer and taking beach trips on the weekend. The line is perfect for a day on the water and dressing like it makes me feel that much closer!
