STYLE GURU STYLE: Pre-Fall Pre-Game

Tracy Reese’s pre-fall 2015 fashion show was a jaw-dropper. Every article of clothing had an incredible amount of precise construction and whimsy in their shapes and hues. The collection began with very rich monochromatic colors in mostly black dresses and skirts. As the show progressed, the designer began incorporating variations of blues and finally ended with tons of colors her tops and bottoms. The shapes and construction really got me interested in the designer’s work. The first look was probably my favorite. The gorgeous floor-length dress had beautiful laser cut outs and was paired with a silky oversized cardigan. I would buy that cardigan in a heartbeat. Her ready-to-wear style certainly had more formal aspects within her elegant fabric choices and fine lines. From the laser cutouts and other patterns, dramatic necklines and interesting shapes in both skirts and shorts, Tracy Reese had surpassed expectations and gave people reasons to be excited about getting their hands on these clothes this year.

My style this week was inspired by Reese’s color scheme and oversized pieces in regards to the pre-fall fashion season. I wanted to turn my favorite outfit of the designer’s into a more casual ready-to-wear version that you want to walk around downtown in and take fun selfies or pictures of the amazing sights while being cozy and comfy. My favorite color to wear is black for anything and everything, of course. You can never go wrong with this color if you want to dress down and comfy or dress to the nines for a fun Friday night. I incorporated this prominent color palette with its accent of beige into my look. Although I didn’t have my long sundress on hand, I wore my black and beige printed romper that resembled the hues of the dress and cardigan from Reese’s show. You can also follow the designer’s style by wearing a black laser cut or crochet romper. What better closet staple to have during the season than an oversized cardigan? It is great to wear inside when you have downtime from school while catching up with some Netflix or to wear out with formal dresses and skirts. I accessorized my look with a pair of brown ankle boots and layered gold jewelry to bring some color, as well. This outfit benefits from a statement necklace or bib necklace with some color like a nice teal or coral. Fashionistas/os can accessorize even more with a bright colored scarf for the evening.

For the day, why not replace your purse with a camera? You can go out channeling your favorite designers and make it your own while exploring other remarkable Fashionistas/os to build your repertoire. Make and capture new memories before next fall!

Get My Look: 1. A cute printed romper. 2. An oversized cardigan. 3. A pair of boots. 4. A long necklace.
