STYLE GURU STYLE: Poncho Party

November 13th, 2015 at 2:00am

Ponchos are a staple for the inducing fall weather, and many fashionable people are heading out to buy them. A poncho will go with anything from jeans to dress pants, to a bandage dress with thigh-high boots.

I took inspiration from the Burberry Prorsum fall ready-to-wear collection and the use of fringe and ponchos throughout. The color palette I am wearing is leaning more toward the neutrals and Burberry is using a more jewel-tone heavy palette, but the use of long and flowing materials was my inspiration. I am more attracted to a neutral palette when I go shopping because I can have more options for outfits in the future. I like an occasional pop of color or a newly introduced neutral, like brown ankle boots with a mostly gray and black outfit.

Fashion staples are made to be classic pieces, and that is how I wear my poncho here; jeans and ankle boots are all I need. The weather today was a little too warm to layer any more than I am, but I would usually wear a scarf and a jacket over this outfit. It’s just a classic fall outfit for a classic fall day. Fall is the perfect time to pull out your poncho and layer it how you please.

My outfit consists of Matisse ankle boots and an Olivia Sky poncho. I layer a plain black shirt under my poncho and dark wash denim to complete the look.

Get My Look: 1. Dark wash jeans. 2. Ankle boots. 3. The poncho of your choice.
