STYLE GURU STYLE: Pointed In The Right Direction

Jenni Kayne’s resort 2017 runway show drew inspiration from the designers memories of California beaches. Relaxed with dark neutral colors, the collection demonstrated simplicity as well as class. Kayne’s show romanticized traditional beach looks with a versatile sense of style. I took my inspiration from this, and translated what was created in resort 2017 to my own personal fashion.

My look really centered around my pointed-toe oxford. Chunky and bold, these shoes broke up my outfit and added a unique element to my look. I decided because I wanted my shoes to stand out that I needed to keep the rest of my look rather simplistic. My dress is a plain tank top dress that flows and has a curved trim. For added functionality, I made sure to pair this look with a black and gold watch with large font on the face. Due to the fact that this look was based on Jenni Kayne’s resort 2017 show, I felt as though my sea green and turquoise dangling earrings added that needed element.

The models in Kayne’s show exemplify her beachy and relaxed vibe through their hair and makeup. By pulling back the top of my hair and leaving the rest down natural, I felt as though I was cleaning up the look a little while still leaving it relaxed. For my make-up, I hardly wore any. Just simple foundation to keep my skin looking matte, I was able to maintain the beachy glow I was going for.

Get My Look: 1. Find a simple and flowy black dress. 2. Make sure you’re wearing a statement shoe that ties your whole look together. 3. Keep your hair and makeup natural! All the focus is going to be on your feet anyway.
