STYLE GURU STYLE: Playing with Shape

January 12th, 2017 at 2:00am

Hey, hey guys! Today I wanted to share a look with you that is simple enough to wear everyday, but is bold in shape and style.

One of my favorite hobbies is looking at international fashion staples and incorporating them into my own aesthetic. Some of my favorite styles are coming out of Asia, especially that of Tokyo and Seoul. While looking at these cities, fashion week street trends, I realized that these cultures love to play with the shape of the human body. Weather it be lengthening the body with oversized coats or accentuating the waist with leather corsets; this type of street style experimentation excites me to expand on my image of fashion.

With these styles in mind, I have decided to create a look that will lengthen the look of the legs and bring in the silhouette of the waist. In doing this, I chose to wear a pair of wide legged, low crotch culottes and matched it with a long sleeved black one piece. As these particular pants are quite unique in shape, I intentionally chose to wear black on black to keep this look suitable for everyday. To add to the shaping of the profile, I layered this look with a white puffer jacket to add an alternative illusion to my body shape.

To accessorize this look, I kept it quite simple to remain the focus on the figure of the clothing. By wearing these heeled lace-up boots, I was able to add extra length to my legs (for I am not very tall) to help balance out the wide legged trousers. Last but not least, I chose the black and white stripped backpack to stay in the color scheme of my outfit, while adding pattern and texture to the look!

I hope you guys found this look interesting and could aspire you to add body morphing techniques to spice up your wardrobe! Let me know what you think of this look and do not forget to follow me on social media to know when I post!
