Inspiration is everywhere. You can get inspiration from the places you go and people you meet, the things you touch and the flowers you see. What I love most of all is being inspired by landscapes. That is one thing I have in common with designer Albert Kriemler, the genius behind Akris, as he took inspiration from landscapes for his resort 2015 collection.
Kriemler’s inspiration came from an area filled with blue-painted buildings. Therefore, the designer played with every shade of the color and mixed them up together. It reminded me of how easy it is to pull off a killer look using one color as base and playing around with layers of different tonalities. I was inspired by the shades of the sea. For my landscape inspiration, I chose my go-to place—the beach. I ditched the base of a classic blue and started to play around with the ultimate blue fabric—denim. I also added a baby blue skirt and a dark aquamarine vest.
Besides blue, Kriemler also added to the collection some printed breezy layers, like scarves. Because we are in the middle of a very hot summer, I decided to put on a printed headscarf. To balance out the color-scheme, I finished off the outfit with white flatforms. Kriemler topped off an all-blue outfit with a white blazer and I thought it gave such a refreshing touch. So I did my best, and chose a different way to do it.
It doesn’t matter where you go and who you meet, you intake inspiration without even noticing it. Next time you can’t decide what to wear, just remember your favorite spot or a style icon. Mix them both together and you will have plenty of ideas. Kriemler inspired me to put color-blocking aside and play a little bit with one singular color. You can do no wrong, trust me!
