STYLE GURU STYLE: Playing With Prints

We may have just started feeling the fall weather but some of us have already moved on to the spring 2016 ready-to-wear goodness we saw at New York Fashion Week. Who could blame us for wanting to stay up to trend with the fashion world? I salute you for making turquoise eyeliner work in the middle of November, that is not an easy feat. One of my favorite shows I saw though was alice + olivia’s spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection that was filled with bold hues that ranged from frivolously feminine to a lady-like bohemian.

It wasn’t difficult translating this look for the cooler months of fall. Think a little less Rainbow Brite and a little more jewel tones. To keep the pants the focal point of the look, it’s important to go neutral everywhere else. alice + olivia chose a nude to pair with the bright pants but for fall, black keeps the look fresh and put together.

Stick to the rule of three and add a leather jacket to give structure to the flowy wide leg pants. Here I played with four different textiles and materials that provide a nice added detail, all of which are my favorite to incorporate for the colder months. If you want to try it out, my formula is pretty basic: cotton base, leather outerwear, suede or wool accessories and fur or pony hair in a subtle detail.

Get My Look: 1. A basic crop top. 2. A pair of wide leg pants. 3. Sweet leather jacket.
