Every time I think of plaid my mind jumps to late summer picnics on plaid blankets. I cannot help but imagine a big basket full of fresh fruit, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and lemonade. As a Fashionista, I also think of a plaid top as a super cute button-up shirt that can be thrown on with any pair of shorts. This look is cool, casual and perfect to wear anywhere, including on a picnic if you choose!
The Tommy Hilfiger fall 2015 ready-to-wear runway show really inspired my fashion choices for this outfit. Hilfiger’s collection represented the late summer days when nights begin to get chillier and you want to throw on a light long sleeve shirt or cardigan. I took inspiration from his warm color palette because I chose to incorporate a dark maroon plaid pattern in my look. His collection included plaid patterns and leather.
I decided to pair my plaid shirt with dark navy lace shorts. A major fashion trend is layering different patterns and textures. I styled plaid and lace together because they are classic patterns that go together perfectly. Adding a white or maroon camisole underneath the plaid makes the layered look complete. The Longchamp tote was a great bag to add to the outfit, giving it a preppy and feminine flair. The Ray-Ban sunglasses are a great accessory along with the watch and bag. Tory Burch cheetah print flip flops like these are super cute and easy to slip on before you head to class or to the beach.
