STYLE GURU STYLE: Perfectly Printed

The spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection by Valentino was flawless. This collection speaks to the inner bohemian in all of us. With flowing printed dresses and lace up sandals this collection is the definition of hippie-chic. I first spotted these gorgeous garments in the window of Valentino in downtown Florence. The printed dresses caught my eye amidst the dark and subdued colors of the surrounding stores. Valentino’s collection not only features printed pieces, but also classic neutrals and fun textures. Valentino’s collection proves that an ensemble with a carefree vibe can be fashion-forward.

Today I decided to break free from my typically monochromatic look and embrace a fun print. I decided to rock a printed jumpsuit featuring a smocked top. The flowing silhouette of the pants paired with the fitted top half created a good balance between relaxed and feminine. The print is intricate yet subtle which fits my style. I was inspired by Valentino’s use of neutrals to add a nude coat to my ensemble. The oversized, structured lapels of the coat create contrast with the free spirited jumper. When dressing with a bohemian vibe try mixing structured pieces with flowing ones. The contrast can create a lot of interest to your look and make it look more polished. The garments in Valentino’s collection mainly feature a high neckline, so I was inspired to add a double strand choker to my look. Chokers are very in right now and are a perfect boho accessory for spring and summer. When looking for a choker, don’t be afraid to play around with color like the red one I am sporting.

The texture aspect of Valentino’s collection can be seen in my black satchel that reminiscent of alligator skin. Swapping your big bag for a simple satchel is the perfect way to add a relaxed vibe to any look. For my shoes I wore leather wrapped sandals like the ones seen in the Valentino collection. Gladiator style sandals such as these are huge for spring and summer. Try ones that lace up to the knee with a shorter dress for a Valentino inspired vibe. This spring 2015 show inspired me to play with printed garments, texture and dress with a free spirited state of mind. Don’t let prints intimidate you, pair them with neutrals and you’ll be rocking the perfect spring look.
