STYLE GURU STYLE: Perfectly Balanced

If I could choose one brand to fill my entire wardrobe is would be Chloé. To me, it is like Free People’s older, more sophisticated (but still totally awesome) sister. Chloé’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection was just as carefree and whimsical as usual, but it had an unexpected masculine flair to it that completely transformed the collection. The added presence of structured coats and trousers made the line a little different than past collections, but it was definitely a change in the right direction. It brought out a sense of confidence that has been lacking in the past for Chloé. And let’s not forget that the sound of Fleetwood Mac filled the room during the first walk, which flawlessly opened the show and perfected the mood the brand was going for.

Using this line for inspiration really opened my eyes to so many combinations of pieces in my closet that I never would have thought of before. Pairing really feminine pieces with a masculine piece or two seems to balance out perfectly to create a confident and spontaneous look. I implemented the collection into my own look by combining a feminine high-neck Victorian-style Free People blouse with a masculine Ralph Lauren coat. I paired the combination with my favorite Citizens of Humanity bell-bottom jeans and a pair of tan high heel booties from Zara. This gave the look my own boho flair, while still focusing on the details on the blouse and coat.

Get My Look: 1. A feminine blouse. 2. A structured masculine jacket. 3. Flared jeans.
