From black and white combinations to striking pops of color, the Zero + Maria Cornejo resort 2015 collection is filled with boxy and draped silhouettes to please even the most daring pattern loving Fashionistas.
The collection starts off with a simple black and white layered ensemble. Contrasting black and white ensembles continue with patterns in all different shapes and sizes. Intermixed within that array of patterns are solid black or white ensembles to add a break between patterned sequences. As patterns fade, solid black and white looks frequent the runway. The black and white fades and color blocking techniques take place, first in a muted light blue, but then followed by a vivid mix of cool and warm tones. The collection concludes with the introduction of a colorful pattern, which incorporates the array of colors seen in the collection.
I chose to start my Zero + Maria Cornejo-inspired look by channeling inspiration from the layered and draping effects. Similar to the first look of the collection, I paired a loose fitting top over a solid black base. By pairing a flowing loose top with a slim fitting tank top dress, I was able to create the illusion of a feminine silhouette while giving it a boxy and flowing flair. By choosing to pair a colorful patterned top with a solid base, I was also able to represent the contrast between the colors and neutrals within the Zero + Maria Cornejo collection.
Although I chose to minimize my accessories, a watch, stud earrings, heels and a clutch were all that was needed to top off this look. Simple black leather heels allow for the focus to lie on the patterned top. I then chose to polish the look off with a pale blue leather clutch. This solid colored clutch complements the blue hues in the top and creates the finished product. With just a few simple components, this look is perfect for whatever those warm summer evenings may throw your way.
