Summer is in the air which means J.Crew is pleasantly filled with merchandise of bright lively colors and patterns. The recent J.Crew runway show was brilliant. Outfits were simple, drawing attention to the bright colors or the patterns that the pieces of clothing displayed. It’s preppy with a twist and takes its typical summer style to a whole new level, drawing inspiration from Venice summers. What captured my attention other than my love for J.Crew was the patterns. Each outfit, had at least one article of clothing that was patterned. This is something that I usually find difficult to incorporate into my wardrobe but the recent runway show for J.Crew gave me some inspiration to take risks and experiment with different patterns and colors in my wardrobe.
Today, I took that risk. My closet can be a little boring, with colors that are mostly neutral and dark along with some very simple (yet timeless) pieces of jewelry. I love pink, it’s my favorite color, and I think hot pink in the summer is a color you can never go wrong with. The outfit I am wearing today is something that would probably usually just sit in my closet, because the pattern in the shorts used to challenge me when I needed to pair a shirt with them. Inspiration from the J.Crew runway helped me pair my bright pink patterned shorts with a darker colored top to allow more of an eye catching contrast.
The spring 2014 J.Crew runway show gave me inspiration to go outside of my comfort zone when it comes to bright colors and patterns. Fashion is all about taking risks, and the result of my outfit is a preppy chic but being simple at the same time.
