STYLE GURU STYLE: Patterns, Colors, Cutouts, Oh My!

My high school teacher once told me to never be afraid of color. I took her advice and, ever since her class, I love mixing colors and began mixing patterns as well. My teacher helped me become a fearless trendsetter.

Alexander McQueen has always been an inspiration of mine, especially the resort 2016 collection. The many sweet and romanticized patterns used in that collection were extremely unique and showed the sensitive side of the designs by Alexander McQueen. In Chanel’s resort 2016 collection, I admired the various colors and the collection took me back to what my high school teacher said about never being afraid of color. The Marc Jacobs resort 2016 collection inspired me because of the embroideries and cutouts used to create visually appealing designs in the clothing.

Combining all three collections and the wise words of my teacher inspired this vibrant ensemble. The ivory crop top with cutouts and the multi-colored floral skirt created this stunning look that is guaranteed to turn heads. The brilliant red heels and MAC’s Dangerous Retro Matte lipstick were my own personal flair intended to further enrich the look.

Fashionistas should never be afraid of mixing colors or patterns. They are meant to create visually appealing works of art, which, in this case, are the outfits created by us stylish Fashionistas. Take my high school teacher’s advice to never be afraid of color because amazing things can happen with just a little bit of color and courage.

Get My Look: 1. Any crop top with cutout details. 2. A multi-colored floral skirt. 3. A pair of colorful heels.
