STYLE GURU STYLE: Patched Jeans

The spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection from J.Crew was incredible. Season after season, J.Crew has a unique look with a strong brand identity that is not easily forgotten. The smart use of color and patterns in combination with smart styling made this collection one of my favorites. With each look so effortless and cool, it was hard not to want to recreate everything from the collection. Unconventional jeans are featured in the collection and honestly I didn’t know how I felt about them at first. The collection shows jeans with shorter hemlines and patches paired with blazers and crisp tops, making the overall looks incredibly chic.

Today, I decided that I would try the one thing that really didn’t appeal to me in this collection: patched jeans. When I first saw these jeans I am wearing, I was thrown off by how much I liked them. When I brought them home my mom told me they didn’t look like something I would wear, which is how I knew I was on track. I decided to follow in J.Crew’s footsteps and pair my jeans with a crisp black silk blouse. Because I am petite, I often wear jeans with heels to add height to look more sleek. For this look, I paired my jeans with nude pointed toe heels. Keeping J.Crew in mind, I thought adding color in some part of my outfit was key, so I added a burgundy handbag for a subtle pop of color.

This spring 2015 collection inspired me to try something new with denim other than my typical skinnies. The result? I was pleasantly surprised by my patched jeans and I will definitely be thinking of more outfits to incorporate them into.

Get My Look: 1. A pair of patched jeans. 2. A sleek and simple black silk top. 3. A structured purse.
