STYLE GURU STYLE: Pastels in Bloom

The Dolce&Gabbana fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection was, in a word, perfection. The designs celebrated all women and their femininity with rose embroidery, soft fabrics and flattering construction. I thought that the use of actual phrases stitched into the clothing and variety of textures were incredibly unique and spectacular.

I fell in love with the reappearance of red roses throughout the collection. Whether they were stitched on the black chiffon of a classic black midi dress or blooming out of the golden, whimsical stems on a blush mini dress, they made the collection so beautiful and delicate.

Because I admired the rose theme so much, I decided to try to incorporate a few florals into my own closet. I found a lilac pencil skirt with pastel sketches of flowers that spanned over the fabric from Forever 21. Like the Dolce&Gabbana collection, the print reminded me of a sketch that an artist could have drawn out on a piece of paper. Lucky for me, this pastel skirt served as the canvas.

I decided to go with  a pencil skirt because of the slim silhouettes that were prominent throughout the collection. In this instance, I chose to pair mine with a blush peplum top, but because of the streamlined appearance of the pencil skirt, it can be paired easily with almost anything. If you wanted to go a different route, you could pair it with a crop top or an oversized, pastel coat.

Get My Look: 1. A floral pencil skirt. 2. A blush top. 3. A nude pump.
