In the Hermés spring 2014 ready-to-wear show, rich and vibrant colors drenched a tribal-esque collection. The collection consists of simple pieces created from gorgeous draped fabrics. As the true summer weather seems to waver in appearing, Washingtonians should wear items which can complement anything the unpredictable weather can bring. I love the true beauty in this collection, and how texture, fabric and color are used to make a basic ensemble stunning. My personal favorite, look 24, exemplifies this simple beauty through the passion orange color of the fabric and buttery leather accessories which accompany the outfit.
To recreate look look 24 in the Hermés collection I chose to wear a basic silk shift dress and pair it with brown leather boots. The most important item to own is a dress that is a rich orange color and is made of silky fabric, or fabric which drapes well. While I don’t own a pair of light leather boots, I made do with my darker brown boots. Adding the boots adds a bit of complexity and detail to the simple shape of the shift dress. Like the Hermés looks, I accessorized lightly by wearing a few rings. The best way to wear the looks seen in the Hermés spring 2014 collection everyday is to wear vibrant colors, silky fabrics and basic shapes.
The Hérmes spring 2014 ready-to-wear show exemplified how color can be worn in a beautiful and tasteful way. I personally tend to run into a style rut of sorts by wearing the same neutral tones of grey, black and white. The Hermés spring 2014 collection inspired me to wear color, and proved that color can be worn in a classy way especially when worn in rich hues like the passion orange shown in look 24.
