STYLE GURU STYLE: Palm Print Makes A Splash

When you think about a resort, palm trees are the first thing that comes to mind. Elie Saab’s resort 2016 collection contains gorgeous palm printed ensembles, plus the collection is contemporary and effortless. Each piece is clean, simple and flatters the female figure. These knockout silhouettes are perfect for any summer vacation or excursion.

I was inspired by Elie Saab’s use of loud prints and flawy attire. I was drawn to a palm print maxi dress. The variety of palm print pieces in the resort collection influenced me to try out a pair of palm leaf printed shorts. My favorite aspect of these shorts is that it gives off the illusion of a skirt and it is a versatile bottom, similar to the pieces in the resort wear collection. The shorts contain the same forest green that is seen across Elie Saab’s resort wear. I paired my dark green leaf shorts with a cutout, plunge crop top. The top is also a standout piece as it doesn’t overpower the shorts, but rather coordinates well with the pattern. My white crop top has clean lines similar to the white ensembles in the collection and like some of the models in the collection, I wore flats. My perforated Sam Edelman Circus espadrilles are perfect for my daily commute in the city. These are also the ideal flats for vacation!

In the collection, each handbag was textured and coordinated with each outfit. My woven straw clutch adds a different texture and by pairing it with the palm shorts is ideal for paradise. Lastly, my spiky gold necklace adds a bit of edge to the feminine look.

Palm print has been seen on every type of clothing piece this season. From bathing suits to jumpsuits, these prints are definitely makes a splash this summer vacation.
