STYLE GURU STYLE: Oversized Goodness

Dsquared2’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear fashion show debuted earlier this fall in New York Fashion Week. The show’s 35 looks hit all the fashion bases. It started off with some very tropical colors in the form of shorts, bikinis and hot pants. Moving into some cooler blue and green hues, athletic pieces with heathered gray accents and sporty racing stripes took the spotlight. The last part of the show, along with a darker color palette, featured distressed baggy denim, long coats and metallics. Although the color schemes and textiles varied a lot throughout the show, you could picture the same woman wearing any of the outfits. Due in part to all of the models wearing identical thick-rimmed glasses and the fact that Dean and Dan Caten, the masterminds behind Dsquared2, used similar exaggerated silhouettes in all of the outfits make the idea of one girl rocking any of the looks.

My favorite part of the show was the last part because I’m a sucker for a good boyfriend jean and anything gold. I, unfortunately, do not own any gold clothing, so my boyfriend jeans and long cardigan were my way of paying homage to the Dsquared2 RTR collection. My boyfriend jeans from Topshop are high-waisted and super distressed. Their lighter wash would typically be something more suitable for warmer spring weather, but they don’t look out of place as a part my look because of the heavier pieces I paired with them. My long camel cardigan is not only extremely cozy, but it also references the long coats presented towards the end of the Dsquared2 show. The leopard J.Crew flats are a little personal touch added to the outfit. They’re my favorite flats and I love the contrast of the luxe calf hair against the distressed jeans and relaxed feel of the rest of the look.

Get My Look: 1. Distressed boyfriend jeans. 2. A long neutral cardigan. 3. Leopard flats.
