STYLE GURU STYLE: Out of the Box

Boxy silhouettes and cool sophistication seem to be trademark details of current fashion trends. With summer’s end quickly approaching, looser shapes and put together appearances seem to be popular among pre-fall fashion. The A.L.C. pre-fall 2015 collection encompasses such trends. Its use of black and white fashion, as well as boxy tops and swingy sleeves, give off a sophisticated, somewhat elegant air that just begs to transition your summer wardrobe into fall.

There’s a reason for this. Boxy tops help introduce sleeves back into your wardrobe, just in time for fall. However, because the silhouette is looser, it will help keep you cooler during hot summer days. Pairing such tops with casual skirts or ankle pants provides a nice day to night look while still being a great summer to fall transition.

In this look, I’ve taken inspiration from my favorite outfit in the collection. This look features a structured white T-shirt with lace details, paired with black ankle pants and short booties. The look is casual, but the details in the top and the outfit’s use of striking neutral shades elevate the appearance, giving intrigue and a cool flair. Playing off of this idea, I wore a white T-shirt with crochet sleeves. Instead of black ankle pants, I chose a more fitted pair of army green ankle pants to give my outfit some muted color. My taupe combat boots added a hint of edginess. Finally, for a little extra detail, I rolled my pants just above the boots.

Get My Look: 1. A boxy white T-shirt with lace or crochet details. 2. Ankle pants in black or a neutral shade. 3. Short combat boots.
