STYLE GURU STYLE: Orange You Glad It’s Finally Summer?

As the school days are dwindling, I find myself dreaming of summer afternoons filled with style experimentation. Do not get me wrong, I will wear pretty much anything and everything to my Monday morning lectures, but there is nothing like walking around downtown in my favorite looks and trying new trends. My inspiration for this trendy outfit is the Ralph Lauren fall 2016 collection seen during fashion week. The collection is filled with paper bag style waists, culottes galore and very structured neutrals on top.

Let me start by discussing my obsession with this paper bag-inspired, culotte jumpsuit. I love how one singular piece can create such a unique look. The vibrant color is fun and fresh for the summer, plus it is sleeveless and airy near the bottom so it is completely functional for the warm summer months. Next, the accents of the black leather backpack and adidas Superstars finish off the entire look. The sneakers help to add a sporty edge to the clean cut look. I absolutely love style mixing in this way and I have been absolutely obsessed with backpacks lately. For the summer, I will be on the move constantly, and I find a backpack both functional and trendy. The black piece is a staple item and works with nearly everything and anything.

My advice for finishing off the school year strongly and starting the summer fresh is to embrace color and utilize pieces in new ways. I am not normally keen on color, but I love this burnt orange color! This shade would normally be associated with fall, but I think it looks wonderful in the summer. Also, adding sneakers with a structured look like this is unexpected and mixes multiple styles. I love how easy this look is, yet it looks very classy and could translate into a work environment with different shoes or for a day of shopping with the girls!
