STYLE GURU STYLE: One Strap at a Time

Overall, I’d say that this trend is here to stay! Season after season, the overall trend is still going strong. Whether it be simple and old school or trendy and modern, overalls can take on many different variations. Trends always come back in style, and the ’90s have come back with a vengeance.

I’ve seen many different takes on the overall on the runways, but a classic take was from  Fame Denim’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection, which features the classic raw blue denim with a modern twist of buttons and frayed pant legs. The Frame Denim collection focuses on classic pieces with slightly modernized touches. On a more trendy note, See By Chloé’s fall 2016 ready-to-wear collection included a long trouser and zipper for a different vibe on overalls. This whole collection is subdued tones and rich colors, which will be great to see come autumn.

I wanted to try the overall trend without going too far out of my comfort zone, so I decided to go for an all black pair, combined with a white shirt and white mule sandals. I wanted the color palette to be simple, because I wanted the overalls to be the main focus of the outfit.

My outfit includes a white T-shirt that tucked in perfectly to the overalls. For accessories, I added a tassel necklace and druzy choker to add some color to the look. My small backpack was another accessory that kept the look modern with its fur and leather material.

Overalls are easy to wear and make a statement, and what more could you ask for? By adding the mule sandals and necklaces, I managed to balance out the outfit without going too crazy. Mixing some color into an otherwise neutral color scheme is what helped to finish off the whole look. All in all, this outfit turned out to be a trendy and comfortable look that made me feel as if nothing was impossible!
