STYLE GURU STYLE: One Color Outfits

Just like in Valentino’s fall 2016 Ready-to-Wear runway show, one color is the way to go. In the show each look had one similar theme: they stuck to one color. Pulling off just one color might seem a bit scary, but it’s actually pretty simple and might save you some time for those days you have no clue what to wear. You can look effortlessly stylish and runway ready by simply combining one color and here’s how:

If you’re wearing separates as I am above, you can either match the shades or mix them up. I stuck to the same shade, but feel free to go with two different shades like wearing darker blue jeans. Just be careful when combining different shades, as too many shades can make the look messy. I decided to stick to the same shade since I added neutral accessories by wearing black sandals and pairing the look with a black bag. I also made sure to match my shoes and handbag to give the look a more sophisticated touch. if you decide to stick to the same color accessories for this look, try to keep the jacket and shoes the same shade, or if it is patterned be sure that the same shade can be found in the pattern.

As far as jewelry, I kept it minimal. You are already making bold statements and you do not want it to go overboard. I wore simple stud earrings, simple rings, a watch and sunglasses. Unless you can find a jeweled necklace that matches the same shade you are wearing, go with subtle jewelry and let your outfit do the talking.

This style is especially great for making a statement the office. Stay fashion-forward easily in a matching suit, whether it be a pant suit or a pencil skirt and blazer. If you are feeling especially fashionable, you could even match your blouse.
