STYLE GURU STYLE: One Bad Baby

It’s that time of year again—back to school! I get super excited this time of year because for me it means stepping out with a revamped look. What does that mean for me? Well, for me it’s all about combining pieces from last season with trendy pieces and stocking my closet with basics that can be layered as it gets later in the year. One more thing that I have to have? Pieces that are super unique and loaded with personality. For this look, I was inspired by Ashley Williams’ spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. The collection features feminine dresses with punches of pink and tons of attitude. Want to emanate this vibe? Look to the style of legends like Blondie or Kathleen Hanna—you won’t be disappointed.

The key to nailing this look is to combine girly pieces with tough and unexpected elements. In my look, I feature a sweet babydoll dress with a cute print, black leggings and lace-up boots. Mine are thrifted, but combat boots are a piece that will last you years and years if you are willing to splurge a little. Looking for a boot that you will truly cherish? Try a classic pair of Dr. Martens.

With my accessories, I bring in a bit of DIY. So, what’s the best thing about making your own jewelry and accessories? If you can’t afford the name brand stuff, you can create it yourself and make something that is totally your own!
