STYLE GURU STYLE: Olive You

This past year, I have fallen in love with wearing the color olive. Okay, maybe it has been over a year now, but the love is still just as strong. So why not share an entire article on why it is the perfect color and a must-have for your closet? Wearing olive with black pieces gives you an edgy yet neutral look. For example, this past weekend I paired my high-neck, olive tank with high-waisted, black jean shorts. Though I felt the look came off more edgy than my style is, adding my aviators and gold sandals gave my look just the right amount of preppy to balance it out. On the flip side, wearing olive clothing with white can give you more of a classic look. Just imagine a crisp white dress and then bam — statement olive earrings.

I haven’t seen anyone who isn’t able to rock the gorgeous color, no matter what skin tone! The oh so fabulous Sonia Rykiel shares a variety of color in her 2016 resort collection, including the magnificent olive. In the picture that I have linked from the site, the jacket style somewhat matches with my J.Crew version pictured. To make this runway look my own, I paired my jacket with dark skinnies. Instead of following the two-piece and same color approach, I transformed the look to a more casual, cute style for my traveling adventures in Ireland. In case you were wondering, these photos are from Kilkenny castle in my boyfriend’s hometown! You may think its ironic that I am talking about my love for the unique green color in a country that is nothing but green, but it is just an odd coincidence.

Get My Look: 1. An olive jacket or cardigan of your choice. 2. A classic black purse. 3. A pop of color.
