STYLE GURU STYLE: Oh So Boho

alice + olivia’s resort 2016 collection is what Bohemian goddesses’ dreams are made of. Between the flared pants and studded suede A-line skirts, there’s not much left to the imagination because CEO and Creative Director, Stacey Bendet, took everyone’s wildest imaginations and put them into this collection. Every piece of clothing is so classic, yet so reinvented and unique.

Drawing some inspiration from this collection, I tried to stay close to the color palette (mostly reds, blues, and soft yellows). I combined boyfriend jeans with the bohemian, ’70s-inspired peasant top to complete the outfit.

My goal was to take the resort collection and translate it into an everyday, ready-to-wear outfit. Jeans and a peasant top always look great together, so adding the peasant top to the boyfriend jeans was a fool proof style technique. The black, peep toe wedges were worn by some of the models for the collection, so throwing those on made for a great real-life mock up of the resort collection. Finishing with aviators gave the look my own personal touch.

I had originally never heard of resort collections until perusing various fashion house’s seasonal runway collections. I’ve learned it’s a precursor to the recurrent twice-yearly spring/summer and autumn/winter fashion shows. Now that I’ve visited designers’ cruise or resort collections, I’ve found the perfect summer looks to try to model my wardrobe after. Stacey Bendet, you are the ultimate bohemian goddess.

Get My Look: 1. Light wash boyfriend jeans. 2. Peep-toe booties. 3. Any peasant top.
