STYLE GURU STYLE: Off-The-Shoulder Obsession

The runway show I loved the most for spring 2016 was the Michael Kors Collection ready-to-wear show. I have always loved him as a designer because his designs are so simple, clean cut, well made, and classic. His spring 2016 collection was no exception. The show featured the colors white, beige and black with pops of red. I am a girl who loves neutrals, so the color scheme was right up my alley. Many of the outfits sent down the runway were monochromatic ensembles. The monochromatic looks that stood out the most were all white. It was so refreshing to see a non-black monochromatic look. The piece that stood out to me on the Michael Kors spring 2016 ready-to-wear runway was a white off-the-shoulder top. Off-the-shoulder tops are a huge trend this summer! The hair of the models was done in a romantic half-up do that was beautifully messy and very natural. Finally, the shoes were flat or platform sandals in neutral tones.

I built my outfit around the white off-the-shoulder top, and also incorporated the monochromatic theme. Off-the-shoulder tops are so trendy right now, and I cannot get enough of them! They are romantic and show off just the right amount of skin to be classy and sexy. White has always been one of my favorite colors to wear, especially in the summer with a tan. So I was very happy with the large number of white monochromatic looks in the Michael Kors spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection. I thought a romper would be the perfect way to combine the monochromatic theme with an off-the-shoulder top in a very wearable way. I paired my outfit with a set of strappy sandals in neutral brown.

I tried something new with my hair in order to achieve the windswept, romantic half-up do shown on the runway. I sprayed dry shampoo all over my hair, not just my roots, to give it some texture and body. Then, I took the top half of my hair and pulled it back with my hands. I pulled out some random pieces from the middle and let them hang down. I then bobby-pinned the rest into a small messy bun, pinning the pieces randomly. I really loved how it turned out!

Get My Look: 1. White romper. 2. Strappy sandals. 3. Windswept hair.
