STYLE GURU STYLE: Not So Plain Jane

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a simple girl. I don’t gravitate towards patterns and prints; I stick to neutrals and I pair them with staple pieces. A certain staple piece I can’t live without are boyfriend jeans, because they’re so comfy and versatile. While I may wear boyfriend jeans to class with a white T-shirt and Converse All Stars, I like to dress them up for a night out.

I drew inspiration for this look from the Filippa K Stockholm spring 2015 collection. I combined a nude top and nude heels with a simple necklace and ripped boyfriend jeans to mirror the minimalistic and neutral look created by Knuttson. I really enjoyed the color palette in this show because it matches my own personal style. Though I love color, I live for neutrals!

The boyfriend jeans were my touch, but like Knuttson, I paired the nude top and matching nude heel together because it’s a fresh look that you can wear any season, not just summer or spring. I love the matching heel and top because it ties the whole look together.

My outfit includes a suede nude top with slits up the sides (which has been a major trend), boyfriend jeans, nude pointed-toe heels, a simple silver necklace and of course, my go-to sunglasses. I added a pop of color with MAC’s Rebel lipstick; it looks great on tan-skinned, brunette girls!

Neutrals, nude heels and boyfriend jeans are timeless pieces that will never go out of style. In fact, I’m sure most of you have these pieces in your closet already! I have been loving this minimalistic trend all year and I love how it translates from season to season. Though this look is simple, the ripped boyfriend jeans definitely add more flare to the look. If you’re a jeans girl, give this look a try!
