STYLE GURU STYLE: Night On The Town

Friday night, feelin’ right and a possibility of romance is on the horizon. Whether you’re meeting an engaging Tinder fellow for a drink or a long-term significant other, the weekend means it’s time to unwind and treat yourself to a fun night out. At least for myself, half the fun of going out is wearing the perfect outfit that is both comfortable and progressive. This week I drew inspiration right from the runway, in Versace fall 2015 ready-to-wear. The use of all black with hints of texture and detailing was to die for. So, Fashionistas/os, if you are looking for date night inspiration, take note of some of these guidelines before hitting the town.

The good news about my outfit (and the Versace outfit) is that it’s fairly simple to replicate! Make use of a casual dress that you can be totally relaxed in, preferably one with a little oomph factor. This outfit displays an easy way to make a simple color palette intriguing yet inviting. Specifically, notice the sweetheart neckline treated with a subtle lace detail; when paired with the leather biker jacket, it creates an edgy—yet chic—look. Depending on the length of the dress, tights may be an exciting addition, especially if your campus is in a northern climate.

Once the foundation of the outfit is laid out, feel free to personalize with your own accessories. Especially alongside an all-black ensemble, there is plenty of room to be adventurous with colors in the makeup and jewelry department. Versace would be nowhere without experimenting. The statement necklace used here complements the jacket without overpowering the outfit; it isn’t too attention-grabbing and leaves room for a bold lipstick or hairstyle. Make sure to pick a shoe that is both sexy and casual. Slightly heeled booties work wonderfully, but honestly, I can picture this outfit with any shoe from a stylish sneaker to an open toe pump. Go with what you feel courageous in! The equipment on your feet sets the mood for the entire night.
