STYLE GURU STYLE: Never Too Cool for School

Summer is winding to a close and the days of lounging poolside are dwindling fast. But there’s one school you don’t have to be wary of: Public School! This up and coming designer is a far cry from the drab hallways most of us endured for years on end and is quickly turning into a favorite in the industry. I’ve fallen in love with Public School and their resort 2016 collection, so this look is my best shot at emulating their sharp, sleek and simple vibe.

Most of this collection, and past collections, by Public School play around with only one or two colors besides black and white. This was surprisingly tough for me to work with because I usually can’t resist a little color in my outfits, but I found the perfect pairing with these cotton joggers and white mesh crop top. Public School started out solely as men’s clothes, so I feel the pants add a masculine vibe, which the boxy design of the cross-body bag adds to. This bag is one of my favorite new finds I picked up in the sale bin at Topshop; it’s the perfect size to hold all your essentials and the silver metallic finish is one of my current obsessions. The color scheme of white, black and silver together really ties together the polished yet lively feel Public School presents.

These wooden platform sandals were a lucky five-dollar find at Urban Outfitters last summer and were worth every penny and more. I couldn’t quite get on board with the vaguely athletic looking sandals worn in the collection, but this version is perfect for going out or dressing up a casual look. I love that a comfortable pants and shirt ensemble can be so easily amped up by adding the perfect pair of heeled sandals. This look makes me feel powerful and fashionable, which is all an outfit needs to accomplish.

Get My Look: 1. Black jogger pants. 2. Neutral crop top. 3. Wooden sandals.
