STYLE GURU STYLE: Neutral is the New Black

Neutral colors are the base of every outfit. For every pop of color, it is important to have a more relaxed tone to create an equal balance. Personally, I am the biggest admirer of neutral colored clothing and accessories no matter what season it is. The versatility and balance that neutral colors create makes an outfit have a sense of equilibrium.

In the current transition from late fall into winter, neutrals are the perfect colors to mix and match with the dark tones of the cold seasons. Colors such as white, cream, olive, nude, tan, camel, taupe, khaki, beige, gray, charcoal and black are some examples of neutral colors that assist in the composition of perfectly balanced wardrobes. Neutral colored accessories always add a timeless look to any outfit, enhancing a sense of poise and classiness.

What I’m wearing: black romper (Simply Vera by Vera Wang), black tights, blanket scarf, tan suede blazer (JM Collection), studded flats (Steve Madden).

The suede blazer is actually the newest addition to my closet for this season. The warmth of the blazer combined with its unique structure makes it an essential piece for the season. I am a huge fan of the blanket scarf trend because it is a cozy, but practical item for the forthcoming chilly weather. This black romper is one of my favorite articles of clothing all year round because it can be used in any season, whether it is combined with simple sandals during the summer or tights and booties for the fall and winter. These studded flats have been a key part of my shoe collection since I bought them four years ago. They add edge and pizzazz to any outfit because they are eye-catching, but not too overwhelming.
